Sony ICF-CD7000 bedside CD player

Sony Japan has announced the ICF-CD7000. a CD player with built in radio and clock. It is very compact and sports stereo speakers delivering an output of 1W x 2Ch. Using the stereo mini input it can be connected to an external speakers. The CD player supports shuffle / repeat playback and CD-R / CD-RW discs. It is a pretty basic player as it lacks a remote and cannot play MP3 files. One major drawback is the alarm sounds the same boring buzzing sound instead of a track from your favorite CD. The illumination feature is cool as a blue LED lights up the player.

The Sony ICF-CD7000 player will be available in Japan from June 10th for 16,000 Yen ($ 130).

Opera Audio's Ping weds CD player, amplifier, and USB connectivity

These days, it's not often that a CD player makes you take a second glance, but Opera Audio's Forbidden City Ping is just one of those devices. The interestingly-styled box consists of a Linear Concept CD player meshed with a 100-watt Class A amplifier, AM / FM tuner, and a USB port for streaming tunes in from your PC. The "three-in-one" audio system also sports a 16-bit TDA1543 DAC and the ability to recover the current time from the USB port to display on the front-panel LCD. The Ping comes in black with your choice of red or silver accent plates, and while we're not sure of the asking price just yet, we'll go ahead and assume that this thing is more suited for the affluent set judging by the company's reputation.

Sony to release a new Walkman in Japan next week

Sony has unveiled their latest Walkman to be released in the Japanese market. Though the thought of a Walkman conjures up images of a bulky cassette tape player, or even CD player, this little guy looks nothing like those. It is of course the latest in their Walkman line of phones.

Walkman NW A808

The Walkman NW-A808 will have both video and audio playback, so you’ll be able to watch plenty of video clips or listen to your favorite MP3s. I’m not sure how you will dial the phone, as the only controls on the front of the device are for controlling the media player, directional keys, power button, home and back. Perhaps this means that the 2-inch screen will be a touchscreen.

The Walkman will retail for 32,800 JPY, or around $270. It will be available in either white or pink when it goes on sale July 10th.
